Well I cant say that you are entirely wrong but getting a whole other education might prove a bit inconvenient for me. Also in what would I get that education? If it were a matter of a year after witch I would get guaranteed income then I would do it, but spending years to get another degree that might not net me any money is not something I would like to do.

I was thinking about opening a real estate agency in one capital of a third world country I lived in for a while. The average price of a house is 200-500 k USD and they basically dont have the concept of real estate agencies and they mostly sell to people they know or friends of friends. I am trying very hard to think what is wrong with this business model and so far I cant think of a reason why this is a bad business. Maybe there is a cultural idiosyncrasy that I am not aware of that will prevent people from using those services but otherwise I find it difficult to think of a reason why this wouldnt work.

Well its a real third world country with extremely inflated property prices in the good parts of the capital because thats where all the people want to move too. Its possible to rent an ok office for 10K a year and hire one employee for another 10K a year. One sale of a 200 k house should net me a commission of 12K with the standard commission fee of 6 percent. So if I sell three houses a year that will make the operation profitable enough. Also because its a true third world country there are no regulations regarding real estate agent licensing and such. Of course there are extra fees for becoming incorporated, different legal services and of course taxes but it honestly seems like If I manage to sell three houses in 365 days I should brake even. What other services would you guys bring to a third world country? It literally has 0 traffic lights in the entire country and houses dont have addresses. .

If you can prove to her that Value Investing is a powerful strategy and show her that it has made several billionaires also mention to her that the method itself teaches you to look at companies as companies not just a ticker symbol. The stock market is not a casino but it will treat you like one if you treat it like that.

With the real estate agency it'll be pretty hard to break cultural norms. Considering real estate agents and agencies are just middle men people might see you as a person just trying to make money from them when they can give it friend/family without any commission to pay whatsoever. I was a Real Estate Agent for a couple years but quit due to seeing a lot of these "Fixed fee" and "commission free" agencies popping up everywhere and basically having the monopoly in my area.
