My dog of 13 years passed away last night after fighting tumours and other sicknesses. He was the sweetest little fuck in the world and never caused any trouble or ever needed much discipling. He survived a removal of a 10lbs tumour a few months back but I guess that wasnt enough to extend his life for another year. We tried everything we could to save him.
Like most pet owners feel about their own, i loved this little guy with all of my heart and i think that ill have a long coping period.
I am most worried about my dad as he's retired, my mom still works, me and my sister have both moved out. He doesnt really have many friends these days and suffers from depression after already experiencing the loss of hus mother and father. He really just spends most of his time with the dog or concerned about/helping out me and my sister.
TL;DR
My dog passed away. What are some coping techniques and advice you can give to help myself and my family, specifically my father. Also feel free to share any similar stories.
Thanks in advance.

My dog had a good life, it was happier than most people are; so I don't feel bad for him.
maybe you should get a new dog?
