What made you think Tinder isn't a sex hookup app? That's basically what you use it for, you rate people on looks and then you fuck them if they like you back. Going there for anything else is 90% percent of the time going to end in disappointment.

Not OP but, at least in my area Tinder has just become a source of validation and "boyfriend shopping" culture for every girl. Just a little dose of validation they can keep in their pocket so they can feel attractive whenever they need it.

I feel like this too, but I think its less of a cultural shift and more just a product of the fact that I live in a small city (~150k people)

I've made a vow to stop taking girls out and spending money on them because none of them would put out at the end of the night.
