Hey /adv/

I'm in my last year of school (or at least in this program) in a city that I just moved up to last year for said school. The only friend I had last year moved away. I somehow went all last year without really making any friends in my program.

I'm sitting here in my empty apartment (it's a 2br that the friend I mentioned earlier had moved from because he moved home) and it's all empty and it's making me really anxious and depressed. I'm hopefully finding a room to rent somewhere near the school soon.

How do I make friends this year? how do I not be horribly depressed? I wanna cry thinking about how I have no friends up here.

Being this alone honestly makes me suicidal.

Any advice for making friends in the second year of school? It feels like everybody's already got their cliques and I'm all alone all day in class.

that makes you sound autistic anon, not friendly

Sure way buddy, never do anything, never ever reach to people around you amd stay single / forever alone just to avoid being percieved as creepy or autistic.

Maybe as a last question use something less direct like do you have facebook? Wanna play games with me? Wanna go grab dinner after? What do you do for fun?

i mean i had a gf for 3.5 years until this past november and i have friends in my hometown, but i just feel like i have a really hard time talking to people in these big group scenarios

one on one i think im fine idk, i actually do appreciate the advice i guess so thanks anon didn't mean to sound like an ungrateful asshole

I know that feel.

There two things you can do.
1) Join a club. Clubs are pretty much for lonely losers. Easy to make friends. Doesn't need to be school related.
2) See someone who looks cool and sit by them for a few classes. And be like "Wow this homeworks sucks, huh" and then the next class be like "Hey, want to study on this shit?"

The great thing about uni classes is that there are often 30-150 people.
I mean a shitload.
So if you strike out the first attempt, just sit somewhere else and you'll never see them again

i'm tempted to join a club but I'm super anxious and nervous about it. i've considered joining the board game club but i'm afraid i'll annoy people by not knowing the rules & shit as crazy as that sounds.

I'm actually in college which in canada is slightly different from uni, the classes are much smaller, probably about the size of a highschool class maybe a bit bigger

Most boardgame people are partially autistic so they love explaining rules so long as you smile and look innocent
And you can always do your homework if you know what game is coming.

I'm also Canadian, btw. My highschool class was about 20. University classes are usually a lot larger

ah word, yeah uni classes are large but colleges are much smaller (i.e. fleming college vs trent university) is what I meant

Whatever.
Like I said, I'm Canadian, so our shit is smaller.
Your college classes are big enough.
