So my molar or wisdom tooth or something started hurting yesterday, very severe but only in small bursts of 15-30ish minutes followed by a couple of hours of nothing. It diminished a bit last night and most of today it wasn't that bad so I planned my dentist appointment tomorrow morning but since an hour or so ago it's been hurting like hell unless I swish cold water around my mouth every other minute.
The appointment is in eight hours, is there anything I can feasibly do to keep the pain to a bearable level without drinking another gallon of water?

This really isn't a pain I can ignore. It's spreading through the entire left side of my jaw at this point.

You could try taking some solpadeine or equivalent (dissolvable mixture of paracetamol and codeine). It's an over-the-counter medication, and perhaps see if you can buy some anti-inflammatory meds if it's an inflamed tooth. But go to your Pharmacist as soon as possible. Explain to him that you have a Dentist appointment in the next few hours and you need something to ease the pain until then
