How dold I live a structured life without becoming completely obsessed? I'm always constantly trying to self improve but naturally I get stuck and fall back on old habits and often end up beating myself up about it. I start trying to follow strict regiments and build up patterns but I try to do too much and when things don't go to plan it messes me up. This can also lead to a lot of procrastination. I can't stop reflecting on all the mistakes I've made and wasted time and I dwell on that instead of trying to change, or it at least gets in the way. I want to live life in the moment instead of setting so many goals in the future. I'm rambling here, but if anyone can connect with any of what I'm saying and has advice, I'd love to hear it.
I feel the same way
Focus on small things first.
Make your bed, floss, set time aside to do 1 productive thing before free time. Read a chapter of a book before bed.
Also give yourself a present every day, a la Dale Cooper. Don't wait for it, just let it happen. It can be a quick nap, a nice hot cup of coffee, a new shirt. Whatever you can afford. Just something small to keep yourself positive.
Don't stress too much and just take it one step at a time, and know that it's okay to fall back into old habits as long as you can recognize what you're doing and make efforts to keep moving forward. Don't beat yourself up about it.
