The problem with asking out cashiers is that they have to be nice to you, it's part of their job. Some men mistake friendly customer service for flirting. If you ask her out and she refuses you it might be uncomfortable for her to check you out if you are a frequent customer.

That said, my coworker is constantly picking out her "future husband"s from our frequent customers and convincing herself that they are coming in just to talk to her. So it's possible this girl is waiting for you to ask her out if she's as thirsty as my friend.

No, this anon is right. Never is a strong word, but in 99 cases for 100 girls who are your cashiers, waitresses or hairdressers or whatever are nice and friendly because they have to be that way. It's a part of their job. Customers hitting on them in an awkward or intrusive, persistent way make their work more harder.

It's like they get all the knowlege they have on dating and interpersonal relationships from Slate. They're failures who want you to fail so you can be like them. If you think a cashier is cute, simply talk to her. Make conversation while you're checking out, build up a bit of a rapport (over more than one visit) then one day if you catch her without a bunch of people around just tell her you're going to a party or doing some fun event on the weekend and she should join you. If she's down, she will give you her contact info. If she says no or seems iffy, then accept the rejection gracefully and move on with your life. It happens every day.

This is just one woman out of billions I'm talking about, but if she's interested in a customer she'll remember their names and ask them about things they discussed in previous conversations. If this cashier is doing this with you it doesn't necessarily mean she's interested, but you can bet she isn't if your conversation doesn't extend past pleasentries and she forgets who you are as soon as you leave. And if you can't gauge a mutual interest already forming than I'd highly suggest you not ask her out and leave her in peace.

You don't "make it happen". If she is not into you, she is not into you. You can actually gauge that with interaction. I know we ask them out, but you can tell when a girl is going to say "yes" even before asking.

Anon i worked as a cashier, and let me tell you the people i remember the most are those who always make some friendly small talk, the idea is just to scale it up every time you come, start with something like hey! i see you every time i come, then go with something like hey im here again, just give friendly starters and see how she responds to you, if it goes well it might even feel natural for you to ask her out sometime
