Do I need bigger aspirations? All I really want is to live modestly in a comfortable town, working a normal day then spending the evenings and weekends with a small, close knit social circle. Doing /out/ stuff and traveling occasionally. That's my idea of bliss.
I'm at university now, and am surrounded by people who are much more concerned about the future. They fret about networking and internships and career tracks, which are things I just can't make myself care about. I already have a software development job, it doesn't pay six figures and is kind of boring at times, but what job isn't? Why should I be one of those people who spends all their time trying to make themselves attractive to some huge company, whose dream is to climb the corporate ladder? It just doesn't appeal to me, I get depressed just thinking about a life like that.
Any problems with this /adv/?

That sounds good. Sounds like it's a life that'll give you satisfaction, which is something that a lot of ambitious people never find. However, be aware that what you want now won't necessarily be what you'll want in the future.

That's what I'm kind of worried about. I don't want to be thirty and cursing myself for not moving to New York and working in finance or some shit. But I also don't want to waste my youth chasing some dumb notion of success I don't really believe in.

The reason why parents urge their children to "aim for the top" is not because they think that being a billionaire is the only path to happiness. It's because parents are afraid for your future. They want you to try your hardest to secure a living because otherwise they fear you may end up penniless and living with them at 50.
However these fears are irrational. You are not going to end up dead in a gutter because you did not pursue a career in finance. As long as you have a clear idea of what you want to do and are willing to work on it, you'll be okay.
