Does anyone here cut their own hair? How do I know where to draw the line between the longer hair on top and short hair on the back of my head ?

Dont be a fucking idiot and get someone else to do it

I tie a length of rope around my head (over the ears) and shave below it.
Something like this. I've also tried bandanas, baseball hats and just guessing.

*With a bit of rope one can loop more neatly around the base of the skull and just shave the neck. I can't find a better pic, sorry

It is always the case that the hair would look better if someone else cut it for another person. Always.

I don't really care honestly.
And after reading up a bit I learned that I was parting my hair on the wrong side because apparently there's a correct side, you have to go with your cowlick. And also I learned to part my hair lower, farther from the top of my head to give myself a more square looking face.
I've never had a barber correct that so I'm done spending money on that shit
I'd rather learn to do it myself and with some practice it may not look perfect but close so who cares?

Yeah no... I use two full length mirrors I can see exactly where I'm cutting but I wanted to know if I'm doing more of a high n tight/crew cut kinda look, where the "line" or at what point exactly the short sides in the back stop and the long hair on top starts?

I got tired of barbers, started cutting my own hair 15+ years ago. Saved tons of money and look great. Like everything, it takes practice, then eventually you get used to it. Pic related has never malfunctioned, going 15+ years strong. Other than that, i use whatever scissors and a pair of thinning shears.
