Literally, take care of your space. You are going to unit for yourself and you should behave that way. Too many people in freshman dorms trying way too hard when they should be building a foundation for a stable lifestyle. Figure out your sleep and wake cycles, talk to your roommate if you have one upon moving in about the level of cleanliness that is expected, and who is responsible for what, how often per week etc. I can't stress this enough: the more of a sanctuary, clean space and sleep chamber you keep your dorm room, the easier it will be for you to succeed. Keep your door open generally, and engage with your neighbors. Don't be afraid of what they think of you - most of them don't even know what they think of themselves. Be yourself! And be introspective. Learn what habits make you better and which ones make you worse. Try to go to bed at the same time most of the days so you can keep your class schedule appropriately. Focus on you first, then your space, then other people. It can be fun living in a dorm if you can keep your shit together and are not a pussy. Your roommate won't neccessarily be your best friend or your worst enemy. Just treat him like you would any other roommate in a bigger flat - hold him responsible for his things, his hours, and let him depend on you to take care of YOUR business. Don't be a pansy about talking about things that bother you or things you'd like to change once the living situation gets settled. This can be done with civility, try to be compassionate and act like an adult. Don't get caught with drugs or alcohol in your room - throw out empty bottles, keep your paraphernalia organized, clean and stored. Have fun!

Also, consider getting an aroma therapy machine and some essential oils to keep your place smelling fresh. Don't fill up your space with too many trinkets, and do your laundry. Laundry smells bad quickly in a small place.

>socialising

Find your people. Go with the flow. You dont have to impress anyone. Some will like you some dont. If you make any major changes to your personality, do it just for you. Because all youre actually doing is changing which people like you and which people hate you in the end. Youre gaining no status or ground.

>eating

Eating healthy is extremely important to your mood and mental health. You will need it to keep your brain working. Organic is a goddamn scam so its not like you have to splurge for it either.

If you suck at cooking or feeding yourself at the very least get a staple like vector cereal on top of everything else. Its calorie packed and vitamin packed. Learn to cook too. Its not hard.

I live in a dorm but there is no socialising, just people living in their rooms
Living just like at home but without parents
Eating what you want, you can use the kitchen
