On a scale of 1 to 10; how true is the notion that giving X amount of money can,in pyshical reality and according to statisitics ,even if not literally true,"save"(preserve'de a better term)human lives?
For exmample, how true is the statement"donating 100 dollars to this X group today will,in pyshical reality, have preserved the lives of 2 human beings due to the 100 dollars, and, this having been absent, the two lives would'de been lost"??
or does it NOT matter since the money will come in anyway?
should I donate or is there NO impending danger of anyone dying?

If it's a statistical truth and the donation drive uses statistics to determine the impact they advertise, you can reasonably expect it to be true, let's say 6-7/10. They will inflate numbers, but it should have a notable effect. If it's not based on statistics, 0-2/10.

Most donations are scams
Even the good ones, most of your money goes to paying bureaucrats and advertisers and lawyers.
If you want to help people... go do it yourself.
