Can porn be considered a hobby?

As in
>collecting of porn
>watching of porn
>contributing to the collecting/watching of porn with others
>and of course fapping to the porn

can you consider smoking a hobby?

Can browsing /adv/ be considered a hobby?

I'm not sure where these are supposed to compare or even relate to each other.

A hobby in the sense that you enjoy it and do it to relax, sure. But the technical label doesn't matter much because the only value of the word hobby comes from implications that it doesn't fit. Essentially porn is a hobby in the way that shopping or watching tv (relatively indiscriminately) is a hobby.

It does not make you a more interesting person. There's no substantial learning process. Other people do not want to hear about it and it doesn't really give you "stories" anyway. You do not develop skills that you can use in other areas of life.
>>
>>18636971
You do it purely for yourself and it has no constructive value and doesnt improve any skills.

Right.
So would playing videogames be more of a hobby? Just an example but.
Vidya is essentially just wasting away your time in front of a screen and rarely, very rarely, gives satisfaction unlike porn. To me anyway. And I've played games for well over 20 years. I should stop doing that.

Skills are developed while playing vidya. Thats why people dont rly consider people like mobile gamers, gamers at all. Those are usually too simple and dont develop any skills.
>>

Fair point.

Man I guess I'm depressed or something then.
I just want something to do, so calling porn a hobby was kind of just desperation here.
>>
Sure it is a hobby. One could even make it into a religion. The church of porn, where evaluating the perkiness of a tit is a sacrament. Recreating classical cable repair guy movie starts is part of mass. Your own altar should consist of pictures of your main idols (porn stars) and you shall pray to them and make them symbolic offerings.
>>
Why are you all obsessed about hobby derived skills?
Most of them are inapplicable to real life, which is why they are restricted to being hobbies in the first place.
How often are you going to find yourself scuba diving or table fixing or mashing buttons to achieve anything worth of note or of utilitarian benefit to you?
My guess is probably never.
So pointing out how OPs jerking off does not involve any skill is irrelevant because in 99% of cases you wont find use for those skills. The value of skills is determined by how often you will use them outside of hobbies. If value of skills were determined by how much enjoyment they give you in a related hobby, then why have that intermediate step off skill requirement and not skip straight to the pleasure?

I went to buy ero manga today, there were lots of girls there. I was at Comiket last week too with my wife.

Porn is definitely a hobby if you're in Japan

Gamers usually develop good multi tasking, faster reflexes and better ceitical thinking those are usefull in a wide veriety of ways every day.
A scuba diver is physically stronger for it and people who dive as a hobby do it for a very good portion of their year.
Somebody who is good at fixing shit will be able to fix anything in his household or even going as far as to make stuff himself effectively saving a lot of money in the long run. People who have hobbies usually have skills aswell thats why hobbies are respected. What respect will you give to a smoker or a porn addict? Be impressed by their lung cancer or the fact that they fap a lot?
Use your brain senpai

I shouldn't be surprised that I finally found someone who'd ask this question but goddamn anon.
