Is it bad if my entire motivation for improving my life is to spite an ex? I don't really feel positive emotions about anything anymore, but I want to make my life awesome and date then eventually marry someone hotter/more compatible with me than her because I'm mad at her for breaking up with me.

Yeah, the truth is if you start living your life and meeting new people (aka girls that you like) you will forget about her. So use whatever you want as motivation, but do it. Improve your life.
