Would it be immoral for a teacher to date a former student that has graduated?
>>
>>18622394
No
>>
>>18622394
No, not immoral. Immoral is dating a student. Once you have no power over them it becomes Ok.

People will look at you funny if the age gap is excessive.

As a teacher myself. I think it's skeezy.
>>
>>18623347
As a student, I don't care. I want some sweet professor action

go ahead, people will probably think it's weird, but once you get older, not many will actually care
>>
a teacher in my town got reprimanded for having inappropriate relationship with a former student. FWIW
>>
Nope, not immoral. Like >>18622414 said, it's only immoral if it's a current student, because then there's power imbalances to take into account. No power imbalance to worry about? Probably no biggie, unless the age gap is stupid drastic - like, them being 18 and you being 30 or something, and that's just because at 18 you're still pretty fucking dumb. I'd be reluctant to date anyone under 20, just in case - not pedophillia or w/e, just the gap in maturity and experience. It'd feel weird.
>>
>>18624175
>this fucking argument again
Who made women the ones to decide what's mature and what's not? Fucking retarded cunts.
>>
>>18624183
You seem to be under the impression I'm a woman, which I'm not.

And did I say it was creepy? No. I just said there's a gap in maturity, because guess fucking what, you mature over time. A 30 year old will be more mature than an 18 year old.
>>
It's grounds for being fired in a lot of places. So regardless of immortality, you'd better be okay with possibly losing your job and there being a very strong stigma against you entering the same field.
>>
Immoral, no. Socially acceptable, probably not.
>>
Normally there are rules or guidelines around how long after a student has graduated it becomes OK for them to enter a relationship with a teacher. While it's not exactly the same, I think my high school had some rule against teachers adding students on Facebook before some number of years after graduation, like 3 or 5. Just something to think about.
>>
>>18622394
Nope, go for it, I would think more highly of my friend whose becoming a teacher if he got with one of his grads.
>>
>>18622394
Teacher here. The moral issue is the nature of the student's feelings for the teacher. There isn't a whole lot of rock-star glamour about a teacher, but there is some, and a young person who knows the older only as a power figure may not be thinking clearly about any attraction to the elder. It is therefore the teacher's moral obligation to be sure the ex-student is mature enough to handle a relationship with an older person and also no longer "hero-worshiping" the former teacher.

The point here is that the ex-teacher is presumed to be thinking more clearly and should be very careful not to exploit any left-over glamour or power that came from the former realtionship
>>
>>18622394
If he likes the thought, make his day.

I think what's most important is what you'd get to experience, not if it is immoral for other people?

What's immoral about it in the first place is that a relationship could affect grades and such.
>>
>>18624302
Some people like worshiping though, to some extend it's fine and it doesn't have to last long once you get to know the teacher. What's so immoral about that?

But I agree, don't exploit him/her, as long as you respect each other it should be fine?
>>
>>18622394
Depends on the age gap
If you're a young college prof and you're dating a former college student then it isn't too creepy
If you're dating a former elementary school student then it is going to be creepy
>>
>>18624188
Not that anon, but:

>A 30 year old will be more mature than an 18 year old.
This isn't certain. You as of know might be more mature than you when you were 18, but this isn't the same when you're comparing different people. Don't equate maturity with age, because people have different personalities and experiences. An 18 year old that's been working for 2 years, has a steady relationship and friends, dedicated hobbies and such may be more mature than a 30 year old shut in who never had any of those things.
