Hey /adv/
In desperate need of some advice and opinions here.
To sum it up, I need to know what people think is fair. A cottage is booked for 2 nights. There are a total of 6 people going. 4 of the 6 people can only stay 1 night, and that has been known about since before the cottage was booked. In this situation, do you think all 6 people should split the total cost (both nights) evenly between them? Or should the 4 that are only staying 1 night just pay for the night they're staying?
Why?
Thanks in advance. Pic unrelated.
Split the first night 6 ways, and then the second night two ways.
>Why?
Because

If it was a change in plans after the booking had been made then they should split both nights 6 ways, but that's not the case here.
If it was known prior to booking, it could go either way. On one hand the place wouldn't even be available for that one night if it hadn't been booked for two, so accept it as the flat cost and use as much or little of the time as you want. On the other hand if it was known ahead of time then no one should be shocked to hear about the one-nighters not expecting to finance the two-nighters. They get an extra night, one of increased privacy and peace, in exchange for paying more.
