Is it worth the time, effort, and money to go to a therapist or psychiatrist for short bouts of depression? I'm currently feeling pretty fucking down, but I know it'll lift a week or so. This happens once or twice a year, and the rest of the time I think I'm pretty average feeling. It's fucking with my relationships and shit, but it's so temporary that it feels unnecessary to go to a professional.

I used to have to go to therapy as a teenager so, if you ABSOLUTELY know you'll get over it in a week tops, then don't see the professionals. They'll make you keep visiting them for lord knows how long, even if you seem absolutely fine and stable. You said it yourself anon
