Help me /adv/, i'm afraid of the dark.
I know there's nothing there, but everytime i walk through a dark corridor without a flashlight i get this constant urge to walk faster and not look back, but just to focus on getting to somewhere bright.
Is there any way to get rid of this? Or atleast dampen it?
And yes, i know i could just use flashlights, but it's still frightening for some reason.
Most people do the same thing, OP. I never walk up my basement steps after I switch the light off, I always run. Just don't think about it too much. Unless you're sleeping with a night light and having night terrors every night, you're completely normal

Find a place where you feel frightened, like in this dark corridor. Sit down in it, maybe at first with your eyes open and then with your eyes closed. Feel the fear go up and down your spine, enjoy that chill. Watch it go nuts, all around your body. Maybe your eyes will start hallucinating, or your ears. Keep watching it, listening to it. Don't forget that you are sitting there, feel at the same time the pressure between your butt and the floor. Use that as a grounding wire, something to keep your mind from really losing it. Maybe it takes one sitting, maybe more, but eventually you will feel fear the same way you feel pressure on your butt when you sit. It's just another sensation; it doesn't "mean" anything, you don't have to react unless you decide to. Notice that the fear doesn't go away, just your reaction to it. Eventually your fear might go away too.
