Starting college next month, what should I do/learn in my next 4 years that would make me the most employable upon graduation? I already know I have to network, but what about some other skills? I'm majoring in finance if that helps.
Interships/Co-op.
Does your program have its own internship program? If so make sure you know the requirements so you can meet them. If not, then you'll have to do research and learn how to obtain a placement on your own.

What are your thoughts on getting an internship after finishing freshman year?

public speaking and conversational skills. Search google for your local Toastmasters chapter.

It's a good idea if you can pull it off. You need to have something to sell to people providing these placements, if you can get enough skills in that year to make their time worth while then why not?
As many of the following as possible
>Good grades
>Internships
>Part time job (doesn't matter if it's not related to your field)
>Volunteering
>Involvement in school life
>Wider hobbies and interests

Oh, and it's not good enough just having these things to put down on your resume. You need to be able to talk about them and articulate skills you've learnt from them and how they make you employable.
I fucking loved my time at Rutgers, graduated 2015. Any questions?

What's the Newark campus? I'll be attending this fall.

womp
I went to New Brunswick
But i lived in Newark, where i did high school.
Stay along the main streets. Newark is dangerous as fuck once you cross into the ghetto. There's a sort of growing downtown scene in newark, filled with trendy restaurants and bars. 20 minutes to NYC so thats nice. There's like 4 schools within that zone, like Seton Hall and such, so that particular place is very safe. But once you extend over like MLK Blvd or too far into Broad St, its the ghetto.

How dangerous are we talking? I'm planning on getting their by train, do you think I'll be safe?
>>18609805
Yeah. I know they have shuttles that run from campus to Penn station, amongst other routes. After like 10pm I would look over my shoulder walking. This is Newark, on par with Compton and Detroit in terms of danger. There will always always always be drugged out fuckers at penn station but just pay them no mind. Not dangerous. The iron bound side, like Ferry St and Market St, are very safe. Nothing but Ecuadorian and Portuguese people. Niggers live alongside Broad St and South Orange.

Get a job.

Honestly this shit has me tripped out. I'm not dorming at Newark so do you think it might be possible to transfer to NB? I've heard that Newark's business school is better but that NB is also a harder school so idk. What do you think?
Also, what did you major in?

just don't make eye contact with the drugged out people or really anyone. Remember, if you can't see them they can't see you.
