I come here as a last resort. Since 2013 I have struggled with severe depression. It has affected all aspects of my life. Ive had several great jobs in that time but lost them all in similar fashion, I end up in a place where I simply cannot function any longer. I am good at what I do, working in finance, payroll and accounting, but that doesnt matter. This time, as I lost my most recent job Ive also lost much more, my car and now, soon, my home. I have tried treatment through various anti depressants but each one has deeply increased my suicidal ideation, culminating late last year with a serious attempt which I barely survived. I have no one left in my life and nothing to live for it seems to me. I am about to join thr vast wasteland of mental health victims in America and I see no way out. I dont know what to do. I am coming here as a final attempt to figure something out. I have little confidence that it will work, but it was worth a shot. Thanks in advance, if I dont reply right away know that I will be lurkinh throughout the night.

As someone who was diagnosed with depression when I was young, and treated for it for more than 15 years, I can tell you that anti-depressants are only supposed to be a short-term thing. You're supposed to use them to numb you up enough to go through the motions of following a therapist's advice. Then, if you were to do all that, they could wean you off the meds and your life would be better, and you would have made maintaining your good life into a habit.
You went looking for a miracle pill, and since you didn't mention therapy, I'm guessing you used a general practitioner instead of a specialist, as specialists will typically mandate therapy alongside the prescription drug.
You've fucked up. You don't have the time or money for either of that shit now. So here's what you gotta do:
Put on your big boy pants and realize that your feelings don't mean shit. You do what you need to do, because your back is against a wall, and when you can afford to care about your feelings, you start.
