Let him fail. I smoke weed, and I've never failed a drug test. Not trying to come off as holier-than-thou, but when I'm job-shopping, I know to quit smoking the jazz cabbage for a few weeks. I'm not sure that's even a maturity thing; it's a common sense, self-control thing, and if your friend lacks those attributes, then maybe being a loser is just kind of his thing, his niche.
