First psychiatrist appointment tomorrow. Should I expect to just spill all my spaghetti and get diagnosed with something? Are there tests involved?
Psychiatric therapy is a long process, it takes place over months or even years. You aren't going to accomplish much in just 1 session. In fact, the first session is often just the dr getting to know you & making you comfortable.

Wrong. My psych diagnosed me the first day and sent me off with two scripts.

My doctor asked if I was an organised person and sent me home with half a year's worth of adderall in the 1st session.

YMMV obviously

Yeah according to the reviews of my new psychiatrist he's a pill pusher so i'm assuming it's not going to be some year long situation.
Just tell him to give you the good shit and not some pleb medication.

I've already tried a bunch of SSRI's from my family doctor and they suck so i'm going to bring that up during my appointment.
If he gives me another I'm gonna commit sudoku

Personally I'm wary of shrinks who push pills too quickly. I've found the talk sessions (into about 3 months now) much more useful. Though I'll acknowledge that meds can be a short-term band-aid solution

I'm in a bad spot right now so the medication is my first priority. I'm going to continue with talk sessions afterwards though. Although in my experience I've only had one good therapist so I'm weary of trying another.
