The problem is that you're afraid of suffering consequences, which must mean that you are in a position of insecurity where you feel you will be judged unfavorably for that which you enjoy. To that I would say, any change in such a situation would be welcome, wherein whatever change this alteration in philosophy would bring would be a positive one in the end, as it would be a change towards the better.

The answer is to simply stop giving a fuck about what other people think about you and to do what makes you happy.
When people criticize you for dumb things like how you dress or how your hair is it has more to do with them than anything.

you don't. you merely change the threshold about what level you do give a fuck, and the setting you give a fuck, and the timing you give a fuck.

no matter how much a loner, nobody ever completely stops giving a fuck unless they are a psychopath. Everyone has something they strive to make acceptance with, wether a person or a principal/idea.

just re-evaluate the level of sensitivity you're working from.
