I have absolutely no clue how to make friends.

I had one friend all throughout highschool and then we split up. I'm decently funny and friendly I think and most people seem to like me a bit.

I've made temporary friends out of necessity that I hang out with once or twice but as soon as I stop having class with them or working together we drift apart. I haven't met anyone I feel close to like a best friend. I just have trouble caring about other people's problems a lot of the time.

I have no problem dating, and rely too much on my partner for companionship. How do I make good friends and keep them?

Read brazillion self help books on the topic and try out everything you consider even remotely useful and keep doing so until you think you know better than all those authors.
