How do I improve my English speaking skills?

Also how to improve on accent? Let's say I'm going to Canada or US and I'm speaking to the people there and they can't catch up my English because I have a rather thick Indian English accent and at the end they get annoyed.

India is a superpower by 2030. Just force your language up their throats.

Record yourself a lot of times and listen to what you are saying. Try to compare it to american sounding people or if you csn hear yourself having a thick accent just try to improve with yourself. By now every smartphone should have a recording app.
