As for if it would actually happen... I'll put it this way:

If a 13 year old takes a picture of themselves (a selfie)
and then gives that picture to another 13 year old.

The 13 who RECEIVED the pictures will be prosecuted for possessing child pornography

The 13 who SENT the pictures will be prosecuted for distribution of child pornography--even though the pictures are of themselves.

IIRC there was even a case in North Carolina a few years ago where a couple of 15 year olds prosecuted as adults for it.

It's not logically reasonable to scold a child for
1. Being interested in sex
2. Being interested in sex but with people like them, not just adults.

Obviously children don't understand why porn is all adults nor are they expected to understand child pornography laws. Especially if most adults don't even understand a lot of laws.

Now, when it comes to sexting. While the children mean no harm, by law they are possessing child pornography and making it.

I was a sheltered child; I only discovered pornography at 14. When I was 14, I wanted to see naked 14 year olds - because they were like me. I googled as such.
