My regular white California license plates came in today. I was planning to get the black vanity license plates which should take 8-12 weeks to get here. In the mean time do I need to install my regular white license plates on my car?

I believe you don't need to install the plates until the temporary registration expires, but that registration definitely will expire before you get the vanity plates.
