There are times when my brain is "loud", the thoughts come at breakneck pace and deafening volume, and there are other times when my brain is quiet and pleasure naturally arises on its own.
I can only get the brain into quiet mode after having sex, feeling accepted by people, doing drugs, or a really strenuous workout.
My current methods of quieting my thoughts either take massive effort, self-harm, or relying on the fickle, mercurial opinions of other people. Is there an easier way to tell my brain to shut the fuck up?

It's called read a book. It's called writing your thoughts down. It's called going for a walk.
I might sound like a smartass but I'm serious. Your RAM keeps you in a flow state when doing these activities. Whenever I have a problem I take a fifteen minute walk and my mind fixes the problem. If I have a hard time organizing my thoughts I write down some ideas and it solves the problem. If I want to know something I read a book and change my outlook.
It's really that easy.

I already fill journals full of emo drivel, writing my thoughts barely helps. Reading doesn't help much either. I'll try walking more though

It looks you have no excuse not to get /fit/, hop to it anon. Also, meditation might help.
