You put too much in others, those friends are what we call "good weather" friends, they are around when it's fun and disappear when it's not. It's actually good they left as they are dead weight on your person. look for long lasting friends, they will leave one day as well as the others but their memories will last you longer.

As for trying to help others by putting them on track, you can lead a horse to water, but that motherfucker ain't gonna drink the third time you try just like the first time you tried.
You help, but if they don't accept leave it be until they seek you out, Newtons law of resistance is applicable here, more you pressurize a canister the worse the resistance on the cap builds until it's gone.
