Hey adv I seem to have a problem
About two months ago my bedroom and the room across from it (they're both on one side of the house) started smelling like death and after careful deduction I figured it must have been something in the vents like a mouse or some shit. Anyway I can't really clear the corpse so I put an air freshener up in my room and read online that the smell can go away after 10 days.
Anyway the freshener worked for about a month but then periodically the smell would come back at night when the air comes on, now I'm getting the smell every night when the air comes on and air fresheners aren't doing shit.
Is there a family of mice committing ritualistic suicide in my ventilation system?

Yes, yes they are. You will also have to watch out for fly pupa then fly infestation they are very common when you had something die in your house and you can't get rid of it.

god fucking dammit
will I need to hire pest control? I think my house is fairly clean enough and I havent gotten flies yet so I don't think I will
maybe it's something bigger. like a human
I wonder if there's people you could hire to come clean out your ventilation system. We started getting bad smells and had someone come check our chimney and there were several dead birds in there they removed. I forget who we called though. I'm sure you could find companies that do shit like that in your area with some Google searches.

A dead mouse in the walls would decompose and stop smelling in about a week. You've got some other problem. Have your landlord deal with it. Or if it's your house, a pest control firm will charge a minimal call-out fee for coming and guessing what it is (more, if you have them deal with it).
