you don't need a degree to become a cop , if you want to be a detective yes but not for a cop will it look good on your resume sure but at the end of the day police agencies will favor shit like community volunteering over most things since the whole point of being a cop is to serve the community and better it by keeping criminals off the streets.

Go to your local police station and sign up.
The whole process will take around a year.
Here in NYC they are always looking for new recruits, you can even join the cadets program.

A degree will def give you a better and faster chance of promotion but it does not really matter. You will be pushed back only like a year at most without the degree and schools don't teach shit, better to learn working the job on the street.
Also do a good job/ get lots of arrests and you will be promoted fast without needing a degree.

Just dont wanna be one of those guys who has to go through the recruitment process multiple times because others were chose over me yknow? Was thinking maybe "pre service fire rescue". Its only a year and i can also be a volunteer firefighter with it.

call police station you want to apply to, ask them to talk to a recruiter. Tell the recruiter that you want to become a police officer and that you're trying to choose a degree. Chances are you're better off applying and getting through the academy BEFORE getting a degree because if you get hired they'll outright pay for your degree.
