I have a sibling who has severe schizophrenia and I was wondering if it's safe for me to smoke weed or not, I've heard that it would be a bad idea from family but I was hoping you guys might have some thoughts?

Yes it would be. It can trigger or help bring out some psycho tendencies.

Be straight edge, be sober. I smoked a lot of weed. Family history of mental illness. I got away with it for years, but it turned into a habit and eventually I started having panic attacks and it just really REALLY messed up my head.

It sounds like sooner or later in your life you're going to do it anyways out of pure curiosity so you might as well start by doing the absolute smallest amount you can and seeing how you handle it.

Smoking weed has nothing to do with developing schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is a biochemical abnormality in the brain based in actual physiology.
Schizophrenia usually manifests in a person's late teens to early 20's. If you do indeed have schizophrenia smoking weed won't cause it or prevent it. Granted, if you do have schizophrenia you have no business smoking weed as it can exacerbate symptoms but, generally, I would stay away from it if you have a history of mental illness. The risks most certainly outweigh whatever recreational benefits there may be.

Can send you into psychosis.
Have seen people with schtizo go into an episode after smoking.
Try high cbd, cbc, and cbg if you can.
Avoid thc at all costs.

Nope. My dad isn't schizophrenic but he does have some strange delusions, smoking weed has put me in psychosis before, and I feel fucked for about two weeks after, if not longer. Stay away, it's not even that good, even the best trips.
If you have to try get your DNA sequence for a few hundo and find out if you have the schizo gene, or the weed induced psychosis gene, which is a real thing.
