You were dead before you were alive and you'll die when your old. Life is a vacation from the nothingness of this reality. Now when it comes to your pain. I 100% understand. I'm also in the middle of trying to stop that too. here's an exercise I do that helps. Everytime I think about something in my past. I also think of something I want to do in the future or something I like. Do this everytime you have those thoughts. Also don't chase happiness. Happiness comes to you when your doing the things you want to do in life. Also meditate. Take deep breaths and focus on the now. It's a process so it's going to work over night. But if you stick with this. You will stop thinking about your past/pain and you will find happiness.
