Have you ever taken anxiety medication, what's it like?

I have OCD and used Xanax for a while ( before bed ). It feels really nice, suddenly all the overthinking stops and I don't feel anxious anymore. It even helped me to relieve my tensed up muscles that were hurting.
But I wouldnt recommend it, they are addictive, very addictive and the withdrawal from benzodiazepines ( Xanax, Valium, etc. ) is supposed to be worse than heroin withdrawal. I got minor rebound anxiety and even that was scary as hell...
It's best to deal with anxiety in other ways ( meditation helps me ).
Also green tea contains L-Theanine which has a calming anti-anxiety effect but that could be just me.

I take lorazepam. It helps with the physical symptoms but not the bad thoughts. Since it just knocks me out I take it to help me fall asleep. As far as medication goes, anti-depressants have helped with my anxiety a lot more than anti-anxiety medication has, though.

Can confirm, I'm prescribed 2mg xanax 4 times a day. I'm 22 and weigh 105 pounds. I didn't take it for a day and had a full blown seizure. Afterwards I couldn't get my arms to work for like 2 hours...

And yeah, as a former herion addict - benzo withdrawl is much, much worse.

I don't even feel alive anymore don't take narcotic anxiety medication, it's not worth it in the long run

Just talk about how you feel, work it out with the doctor, he's there for this and should have some experience to find out what's exactly the problem and how to treat it.
