For the average person, it's about learning useful skills and networking for better job and better social circle.

The combination of browsing 4chan and being uneducated leads to hilarious effects. I doubt the vast majority of Americans have what it takes to teach themselves anything without the guidance of experts, those who can, get free ride for uni, so they have no reason to complain.
