Hey, /adv/. I need traveling advice.

tl;dr: Japan: how tô

I'm brazilian and if all goes well I'll start earning good money starting january next year. So I wanna save cash and visit Japan in september.

Anyone who has been there before:
1) how long should I stay to enjoy it to the max?
2) how much money should I save to eat in nice in places and buy cool stuff? (I'll be probably paying for two though, I want to take my gf and she's not really rich)
3) are japanese homophobes? Cause Im gay and I want to know if it will be weird to, like, rent a couple's hotel room or do romantic dykey stuff around the japs
4) what are the must-do-things in japan?
5) which cities should I visit?

Any information is welcome, thanks in advance!

I forgot to add: is it possible to communicate with english and (very) basic japanese? Or should I hire an enterpreter? I'm up to studying more the language if its needed
