So I obtained $727.00 into my checking account and it says its from a refund but I don't recognize it at all. it says EC REFUND DES:REFUND and I am paranoid I was hacked and given money of sort. I know it sounds nice, but if I use that money and it wasn't supposed to be for me, I don't want to be liable. It says my name and everything, but it has an ID number but I don't recognize it. Please help? Any ideas what this could be from?
Cant you call your bank and ask?

I did and they were unsure where it came from as well.
Just cash out asap dummie
just leave it in situ. someone will twig eventually and if they ask for it give it back to them (once they have provided the evidence that the money was their and was deposited in your account by mistake).
if you withdraw it or spend it, that's theft.

It has my name on it, so I'm really sketched out.
Anytime there's a glitch in banking take the money and they can't do shit, it was essentially their fault.

Unfortunately it does not work like that.

the only odd thing is that your name is on the transaction. I would just give it a good few months, if not year and if it's still there no one is likely to come for it

It's the complete opposite of this, I had a friend who got a couple hundred from a banking error. She immediately went and spent it, couple days later they took the amount erroneously deposited out of her account which left her in the negative.
