So a few years back, this doctor diagnosed me with Schizotypal Personality Disorder. I've never needed to take medication for this, nor have I been institutionalized.
What I am wondering is whether or not I could still become a police officer with this in my medical history. I have no criminal background, just this one medical footnote.

It is highly unlikely you'll get hired. Police are under a lot of scrutiny constantly and if you ever make a mistake on the job and someone finds out you have a recorded psych diagnosis, the department will get into deep shit with the public, city, county, even state. You'll be at the bottom of the list for sure.
Maybe it's different since you haven't taken meds. Were they ever prescribed? Did you not take them AMA? These could all be crucial.

I was prescribed an anti-psychotic medicine during this event. But I never took it. I was also prescribed SSRIs for anxiety years prior to that.
I had a feeling this would hurt my chances. Is there any branch of law enforcement that would be more open to somebody like me?

Ok, so you were prescribed anti-psychotics and didn't take them, against medical advice. Sounds like a dangerous person to have dealing with irate, high, drunken, or violent people on the street
You're fucked if you want to be in law enforcement and patrol the streets or handle interactions with the public as a uniformed officer, but you could probably be a part of their civilian staff
>dispatchers
>lab workers
>IT staff
>etc.

Fuck, I suppose I should have known. I guess not everybody can be a cop.
