Just found a small insect attached to my inner thigh. I was wondering

Bed Bug ?

From your potato photo I'd assume it's a bed bug, but they don't attach. They tend to bite and then leave.
Try and get a clearer photo? Back your camera up some and let it focus. If you have a macro mode use that.

Could be a bed bug. I went abroad for several days (only UK --> northern France) and probably hadn't washed sheets for a week or so before but it did stay on while I washed in bath so dunno. Also worth noting I left trousers on floor in France in a room not particularly sealed to insects.

Looks a bit like a tick.

Put it in a container and take it to the doc, you might have Lyme disease.

Yeah it's a tick. Grab it with a pair of tweezers, near the head where all the little paws are stacked. Then you pull it out making a twisty motion. Sounds more complicated than it is, but twisting while pulling it out makes it easier to make sure you get the entire tick out instead of breaking it and having leftover bits stuck that can cause irritation. Kill tick with fire.

Bed bugs etc bite but they don't latch.

I'm stupid, paid so much attention to the tick that I didn't even see it let go already. Just kill it with fire and keep an eye on the spot. It's normal for it to be red but if a ring forms around it go to a doctor. You can find pics online.

Also for future reference, this tick is full and bloated but they can be much much smaller and more like little spiders when they have not eaten in some time.
