A lack of friends is easily the most crushing pain I feel now that my depression and anxiety have lessened. I haven't had an irl friend since leaving high school and moving away. I'm now 26 and don't want to live like this. I'm making gains in every aspect of my life other than social.
While I don't have any social hobbies, I do have a couple choices I could make to try and branch out.
1. I could join my local Toastmasters club.
Pros: I place a massive amount of value in eloquence, love debate and public speaking. Easier to get started/join.
Cons: Only a couple people my age group, with most of them being older so not much in common probably. Dressing up is annoying. Preparing presentations takes time I don't have a ton of.
2. Try to join a game group or two at my local table-top store.
Pros: People my age. Might enjoy DnD, Magic, etc. More flexible with time, i.e. You MUST do x y and z to participate.
Cons: $$$ to get started. Might not enjoy table-top games. harder/awkward to join.
Ideally I'd like to join a Japanese language meetup, but there are none even remotely close to me.
Thanks for reading this mess of a post. I can elaborate on myself and my situation if anyone wants.

So? You can be friends with older people
>so not much in common probably
Well if you're going to assume this, then you're failing in making friends before you even begin.

I live in Florida. I've been chatty with older people since moving here and it's really exhausting and depressing. I don't think it's bad of me to prefer friends my own age. That's not -ruling out- others, but it is a preference.

I agree, it's not
>That's not -ruling out- others, but it is a preference.
Your post makes it sound like you're ruling it out.

Good thing I elaborated for you then.

If you had made it clear from the beginning, then it wouldn't have been necessary.

You're being needlessly combative. You posted nothing but a nitpick, then became offended when I tell you off for it. I won't be responding to trolls like you after this post.

I can see why you have no friends
Warhammer is usually a good one if you like painting miniatures. If your store is anything like mine they have a workshop where you just bring your own shit and paint and talk to the other blokes.

What's the buy-in like?

He's right tho. Just help the man with the details he gave you for fucks sake
