I lived there for six years. I moved because of a job, but I'd move back in a heartbeat if I found a job in central to southern Florida or anywhere on the east coat. Cost of living is low, and I could actually afford to buy a house there as opposed to SoCal.

Summer is breezy in the north/central. No worse than North Carolina. Living on a peninsula between moderating bodies of water make the latitude bearable.
I never saw a single hurricane in six years of kiving there.
The seniors only form feral gangs down around the Villages, but you can outrun them.
