Advice On Shitty Roommate

>smells like shit, no hygiene practice
>plays vidya all day when not at work
>leaves shit all over the place
>quarter asses the chores I have to tell him multiple times to do

>try to casually bring up this shit and he just doesn't do anything about it
>if lucky, he'll pick up some of his shit, shove it under his bed and goes back to vidya

Effective change comes in supportive communication. Also, it's likely not gonna happen while he's playing vidya - he'll use the "next game's starting" to get out of the conversation
Another odd method is disappointment. If he's truly empathetic, you can try a fatherly disapproval... See if that touches his psyche

find a new place asap. talk to the person you are renting from, see if you can no-fault exit, either for yourself only or for the both of you. Your renter/landlord might kick him out for you, especially if weed ia illegal in your area.
