>My dad does not enjoy cold beer, instead of leaving it outside he will keep it in fridge then proceed to let beer bottle sit on open flame to warm it up. What are the chances it explodes with glass shards flying everywhere fucking him up?
Sorry for greentext copy/pasted whole thing accidentally from other thread since I got no response

I thought you're never supposed to rapidly heat up cold glass with heat?
>>18485404
keyword here being "rapidly". never mind that fridge temp is no where near cold enough for that to happen in the first place
>>18485404
how many times you warmed up something and it exploaded?
Difference between -20'C and +20'C is almost no difference

Rapid change in temperature (hot to cold) can cause glass to crack/shatter.
Are you expecting an explosion because of the change in pressure from the heated liquid inside the bottle? He'd have to be heating up the beer quite a bit, but even then, the caps on most beer bottles are intended to fail and pop off well before the glass fails.

Well, if the open flame is anything like in your pic, the chances it'll shatter are higher than I'd be comfortable with.
why does he put it in the fridge in the first place?
