My phone got messed up and I don't know how to break it

I dropped my LG-5 phone one morning while I was getting dressed, right after that I went to my parent's room to tell my Mah, she said she'll put the phone in some rice.
The phone mostly worked after that but the only thing that didn't work was it's power button, it wouldn't turn the phone on or off so whenever the phone was off I'd put the charger in so I could use it.
It wasn't until we went on a trip to California is when the battery died, when we got to the place we were staying at for the vacation I put my charger in my phone but after it was charged it would just show the amount the battery was at and then just turn off and since the power button wouldn't work I can't hold it down so it would take me to the opening screen, so it's basically unusable.
It's been three weeks since we got back from vacation and me and my Mah are planning on telling my Pah but I'm scared that he'll get mad, of course he won't go ape shit but I'm still scared to see his reaction. What should I do?
