Should I be worried about this poison ivy? I'm already on prednisone for it. But it's been spreading and has a lot of redness around it.. is this normal?!
Just had a massive allergy attack.
Have you showered to try to remove the oil that's causing the rash yet? If no, do so asap.
it is also pretty normal for the rash to look like it's spreading anyways. The oil covered a large area of skin and the breakout only started in the center. It will spread to the boundary of where the contact was.
You're supposed to leave it alone, not scratch it, and avoid popping the blisters best as you can. You can put an ice pack on it in order to reduce blood flow and ease itching/swelling/redness. Wear loose, soft clothing to avoid aggravating the skin further. Compression of any sort, even the slight compression from snug clothing, drove me nuts.
Sucks man, I had it all down my side and it was not a fun time.
Yeah, have been obsessively showering and changing sheets. Thought it was probably normal.. thanks for the reaffirmation
Looks normal to me. Be sure to thoroughly wash all clothing or surfaces you may of come in contact with after you were exposed to the ivy: steering wheel, shoes, door knobs. That shit can stay on surfaces for a very long time if they aren't washed off.
Calamine lotion, get you some from your local drug store or the pharmacy area at your local Walmart or grocery store.
It's some weird looking pink stuff you apply to the effected area and it will dry as a chalky layer covering it.
