Is it better to be honest or reshape myself?
I have no real interests except literature, music (Western art music, aka "classical"), and religion. These aren't big hits in my age group (early twenties).
I'm wondering if I should keep this to myself when I go away to college. I want to make friends and get a girlfriend but I'm thinking my interests might make people think I'm gay and/or weird.
For example I don't think it would come off well if I told people I love poetry. Even though it had a rich heroic tradition, today it is considered sissy and gay.
Or do you think it'd be best to just be honest?

College isn't like school, people won't make fun of you for liking poetry unless you're a faggot about it. There will be a poetry club/society on campus that you can go to. Just don't act superior or scoff when people say they're interesting in things you might consider 'plebian' like top 40 music or capeshit films.

>Just don't act superior or scoff
I'll definitely not scoff. But apparently I act superior, even though I really don't mean to. For example I wanted to wash my hands but a friend wanted to talk to me about something and I just said "I'll think about that and we can discuss it when I get back," not in a snooty way, just normally, and he said that was a prudish thing to say.
So that's why I'm thinking I should just say I'm into sports and stuff instead of my interests, since I'm already marred with an off putting "superior" way of acting

Keep your passions, find more accessible hobbies. If you're strictly talking about meeting people, just find a hobby that is more popular than the classics. There are people out there that won't share your passion, but will find it, and you, fascinating all the same for it. And eventually, you might stumble across someone who cares enough to argue the finer points of Handel or whatever it is you classicists do.

Why not just stop acting that way? You can like all your shit, and not be thought of as a fuckboy too.

Honesty will lead you to the right people
It's the harder path but the one more worth taking

The problem is I don't know im acting like anything though. Like with my hand washing example, I thought i was being polite, but I guess just saying "give me a second" would have been enough

Don't let the unwashed masses bring you down to their level. You'll find a cute /lit/ gf and pseudo-pseud friends, guaranteed. Just don't give up on people.

How can you be so sure?
