Don't brush it, brushing damages your hair. Use a wide-toothed comb if you absolutely have to, otherwise just running your fingers through it should be enough.

Make sure your shampoo doesn't have sodium laureth/lauryl sulfates or anything else harsh, and it's best to not shampoo more than once to twice a week. Your hair might be greasy at first if you've been washing every day, but it'll sort itself out after a few weeks.

Baby shampoos and conditioners are generally very very gentle and will make your hair look and feel wonderful. You can find lots out there that don't smell like anything or just have "fresh" unisex scents (I can't tell if you're a boy or girl)
