This is true OP. If you think an adventure is actually going to help, then why don't you set off on it and see who you meet on the way? I believe it's fairly common for people to meet and bond while hiking the appalachian trail, pacific crest trail, etc.

Last year I drove across North America by myself and started a new life on the other side, making friends and building things from scratch. 2 months ago I moved back home.

I'm aware of what running away from my lack of purpose means to me, I just would rather have someone else along for the ride this time. I've already built lots of experience myself.

Do you know anyone you could ask? It's worth trying even if it seems unlikely. You might find someone who's having similar thoughts and would be interested in going with you.
