I'm going to go to a new college and I wanna try and be more social this time. I've never been good at this sort of thing. I just want some general advice for friends and gfs and how to sustain a long-term relationship.

Rule No#1 sounds cliche but it is: Be yourself.
Go with whoever suits you. Go hang out with the lads you feel you belong with.
If you like the conversations with XXX type of people, don't try to ditch them and infiltrate the ranks of some other Group with which you have nothing in common.
Have hobbys like Park Running/Going to the gym etc. And when people talk to you, coz they will , take a few moments to think before you speak.

I'm not OP, but this hasn't worked well for me. When I think before I talk, everything comes out too filtered and tedious. When I speak spontaneously, I am more cool and interesting.
