Are people seriously triggered from being called buddy?
Maybe it's a southern thing but where I'm at buddy is not disparaging or meant for kids like some kind of updated1950's dad "heya sport!". It's just friendly. Like dude or man.

Say, "I'm not your buddy pal" in a joking way. They will probably stop. Or say, haha you called me buddy, that's swell.

If none of that works try "I once knew a guy that called everyone buddy, he died of aids from all the gay sex he was having" *stare at them intensely while saying this.

Honestly call my friends buddy all the time. Greeted an acquaintance with "whats up buddy" once and it felt weird. It seems a little patronizing to call someone that you aren't friends with buddy.

Exactly. I call ppl buddy all the time. My mom Silver frown on me for doing this when I address someone older than me as buddy. However he always addressed me as buddy so i dont see the problem.
