I'm throwing a party for the first time this saturday. Is it a good idea to invite people from many social circles or will it get awkward?
Awkward.
I'm the kind of guy who enjoys smaller parties though
But even still if you're gonna do that it better be big if it's not gonna be that big then don't do it

I'm not a socialable person. After since the first time I invited a group of strangers over at a house, unless you are an extroverted person, it gets awkward real quick.
I need to get out of my house more too. I should get more sociable for my age. I'm 22 by the way.
Few tips:
Invite only similar people. Keeping it to 5-10 folks makes the group much more pleasant. If you want to have a big party it needs to be like 50 confirmed guests (read: 100, because half will flake) or it'll get weird fast.
Assume people will steal everything you own. If you're not okay with losing something, lock it up.
My friend had a party of about 10-12 people from different social circles. It was great, not awkward at all.
I think you should invite few peoples from social circles. Keep in mind that no any strangers must be allowed, It could be danger and unsafe for you.

One of the reasons that people like parties is that they get to meet new people, just make sure you make the effort to introduce them to each other.
However, bear in mind that having separate social groups can be a good thing, I regret introducing mine to each other sometimes.
